A few details about course management:
Course duration: Monday – Friday
First course day (Monday morning): We kindly ask you to arrive at the course location between 8.30 and 09.00 on the first course day!
Payment: Our courses are paid with the reservation for the vacation week. For your security as well as for better planning, we offer you free 100% money back in case of cancellation due to Covid-19 restrictions. In addition, you can cancel up to one month before the course starts completely risk-free and free of charge.
Couse start: daily at 09:00
Couse end: The children and surf courses end at 16:00, basic and BFA Binnen courses last until 17:00.
Childcare can be booked before the course starts (08:00 – 09:00) and after the course ends (16:00 – 17:00).
The children’s groups are also supervised during the breaks. Course participants under the age of 14 are asked to bring written parental consent if they wish to leave the school grounds during breaks or during the specified course times.
Bad weather program
Sailing and surfing take place in the open air. Therefore, courses are held in all weathers. Some theory and knots have to be learned anyway and for really bad weather an alternative program is prepared.
In the restaurant Ufertaverne on the premises of the sailing school there are children’s menus (5 menus including a non-alcoholic drink at reasonable prices). Of course, you can also bring your own food from home.
Accessibility by subway and car
The Hofbauer Sailing School is easily accessible by U1. The walking distance from the station “Alte Donau” to our sailing school is about 700 meters. The water sports center Neue Donau can be easily reached by U2 or by car at “Donauufer Autobahn Abfahrt Kaisermühlen”. The walking distance from the station “Donaustadtbrücke” is about 1,2km.
That should be brought: Swim trunks or suit, towel, change of clothes (for involuntary baths), sneakers, sunscreen, sun hat if needed, and wristbands for those who wear glasses. Locker boxes and life jackets are provided free of charge.
Liability issues and insurance:
Use of the sports equipment is at your own risk and participants are liable for any damage to such equipment. However, the sailing school has taken out liability insurance for its course participants. This covers damages caused to others.
Licenses and diplomas
All students receive certificates of attendance with notations of the level of training they have achieved. If the appropriate requirements are met, the basic license of the Watersport School Association of Austria (WSVO) and the BFA-Binnen of the Austrian Sailing Association (OeSV) can be obtained.
